  • Budapest Research Reactor - 60 years of research and innovation

      BNC scientists have completed a review of notable achievements of the 60 years of research and innovation at the Budapest Research Reactor, which went critical for the first time on 25 March, 1959. The document is organized in six sections: "Reactor facility", "Research infrastructure", "Scientific excellence", "Innovation", "International cooperation" and "Social impact".   • LENS launched with BNC as member

      Members of the League of advanced European Neutron Sources (LENS), officially launched activities to promote collaboration on neutron usage, technology development, innovation, data, education, and strategies. By aligning policies among its partners, LENS will advocate for the user community and strengthen European neutron science.
  • BNC Science Proposals call

      The BNC user program includes 14 experimental stations, to carry out research in physics, chemistry, biology, materials, medical and cultural heritage sciences. ~140 scientists from Hungary and abroad perform ~180 experiments / year. BNC also provides access to facilities for isotope production and neutron irradiation. BNC now calls for Science Proposals.  Deadline: 15 April, 2019

  • BNC Leads Optimisation of ESS Moderator

    The European Spallation Source will be the first spallation neutron facility to operate a low-dimensional moderator as part of its target systems. Hungary's Wigner Research Centre at BNC is building a prototype of the ESS moderator test beamline to optimise the novel technology.
